Register for the sales and use tax and be familiar with the resale certificate with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. > The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection offers a resource page on their website for things you need to know when starting a food business. In addition, licensing is required for: food manufacturing establishments, bakeries, frozen dessert manufacturers, bottlers (including water and nonalcoholic beverages) apple juice / cider manufacturers, scales and liquor.

> The distribution of alcoholic beverages requires a surety or cash bond (Form OR-131, contact agency for form) with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. Note: The federal government does not issue permits or licenses to carry concealed weapons. Carrying permits are issued by the state or local government.
There are no laws specific to the manufacturing of knives. However, Connecticut has laws that govern carrying and purchasing / mail ordering knives.

Transportation:
If the manufacturer uses their own trucks to transport goods, there are additional registration requirements for both interstate and intrastate trucking.
* Note: Registration criteria include:
- The vehicle must have two axils and a registered gross vehicle weight exceeding 26,000 pounds or 11,797 Kilograms
- Have three or more axils regardless of weight.
Connecticut only:
Register with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services for the Motor Carrier Fuel Tax REG-3MC). *Please note that the IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) registration is not needed if you are transporting goods within the state border only.
Interstate:
> Register with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services for the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA).
*Please note that the Motor Carrier Road Tax registration is not needed if you are transporting goods across the state border.
According to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, transportation services are not subject to the Connecticut sales tax.
