Expansions highlight Connecticut’s talent, research strength, and industry momentum
New Haven, Connecticut – December 18, 2025 — AdvanceCT announced today that four biological, pharmaceutical, and chemical sciences companies are expanding their operations in Connecticut, including MannKind, Cyclo Therapeutics, NanoEngineering, and P2 Science.
MannKind, one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the state, announced the relocation of packaging operations from the Midwest to their Danbury, Connecticut headquarters. The $7 million expansion added 40 jobs to the state. Since designating Danbury as their global headquarters in 2022, MannKind has steadily grown the facility as they continue to develop innovative patient-centric therapies that address serious unmet medical needs in cardiometabolic care and orphan lung diseases.
Late-stage therapeutics company focused on neurodegenerative diseases, including Neiman Pick Type C1 and Alzheimer’s, Cyclo Therapeutics, completed a merger with New Jersey-based Rafael Holdings, Inc ( NYSE: RFL). The majority of Cyclo’s employees remain residents of the state with future plans to establish a more formal footprint here in CT. Additional team members are located in New Jersey and Florida.
Yale University spin-off NanoEngineering, a manufacturer of instruments that perform atmospheric separation of nanoaerosols to address emerging needs in science and industry, has secured two new National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants that will enable further expansion at their New Haven facility. These prestigious grants will focus on improving quality control analytics of viral vectors, essential delivery vehicles for gene therapy, and make use of the high-resolution separation technologies developed by NanoEngineering to improve and facilitate sample preparation of previously intractable oligomeric protein complexes for cryo-electron microscopy.
Woodbridge, Connecticut-headquartered P2 Science, a green chemistry company founded by Yale University scientists, is planning to expand capacity at its Naugatuck manufacturing site and invest in research and development capabilities at its Woodbridge labs in 2026. The company’s expansion of its R&D capabilities and manufacturing capacity further accelerates their mission of converting bio-renewable feedstocks into high-value specialty products in personal care, flavors and fragrances, textiles, crop care, and other specialty chemical markets. P2 recently announced a collaboration with a leading innovator in bio-based and bio-degradable polyurethanes, Algenesis Labs, where P2 will synthesize algae-derived azelaic acid at its Naugatuck site to support Algenesis’ production.
“We continue to see tremendous growth in Connecticut’s applied sciences ecosystem, not only in traditional centers of the industry like New Haven, but in every corner of the state,” said John Bourdeaux, President & CEO of AdvanceCT. “Anchor institutions like Jackson Labs, Boehringer Ingelheim, Pfizer, Yale, and UConn have drawn the partners, funding, and skilled workers to Connecticut that have enabled this sector to consistently innovate and thrive.”
“Connecticut’s deep science R&D workforce and outputs have outpaced nearly every other state in the nation, resulting in some truly amazing advancements coming out of the state,” said Tim Miller, Vice President of Business Development, Life Sciences at AdvanceCT. “We’ve seen a recurring trend of companies looking to move away from oversaturated and overpriced markets like New York, Boston, and California to places like Connecticut, where their people and products are better able to make real differences. These companies represent just a handful of the changemakers that have chosen Connecticut to carry out their missions.”
