Assessing and Cleaning Up Brownfields

Assessing and Cleaning Up Brownfields

Brownfields are properties or sites that were once used for industrial, manufacturing or commercial uses, and are now abandoned or underutilized due to known - or suspected - contamination from past uses.  These liabilities prevent towns, developers, and investors from cleaning up and restoring these sites to productive use.  Cleaning up and reinvesting in these sites increases local tax income, facilitates job growth, utilizes existing infrastructure, revitalizes impacted communities, and both improves and protects the environment.

Join AdvanceCT and our guest, Mark Lewis, the Brownfields Coordinator at the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, for a 30-minute webinar to learn more about the process of assessing and cleaning up a brownfield site, and how DEEP helps to facilitate the process.  Mark will also share information on the state’s brownfields liability relief programs.
