Position Overview

This individual will oversee all aspects of the Company’s operations, including accounting/finance, IT and HR, some or all of which is likely to be outsourced to third party vendors.  In addition to these functional responsibilities, the Director of Operations will support the CEO with strategic projects that could include evaluating AdvanceCT’s organizational effectiveness, building and tracking performance metrics, identifying and leading new strategic initiatives, troubleshooting underperforming initiatives and sourcing and curating professional development opportunities for AdvanceCT staff.  This individual may also assist the CEO by providing fresh insight into the Company’s internal business processes, including recommendations to enhance and improve processes to optimize efficiency and enhance company culture. 

The Director of Operations will play a supporting role in managing key stakeholder relationships, including the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), the Company’s Board of Directors, the Company’s broader Membership, and other important statewide partners.

Day to day tasks could include basic budgeting/financial analysis/bookkeeping, developing/implementing HR policies, hiring, staff onboarding and other operational tasks.  The Director of Operations will lead the Company’s office relocation in early 2021.  This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for AdvanceCT’s outsourced providers, ensuring these firms have the information they need to be effective and efficient.

The ideal candidate will bring experience and expertise in at least one of the following functional areas: business operations, HR, or finance. However, professionals from a variety of other backgrounds may be also considered. Most importantly, s/he will have a demonstrated track record of professional success, be detail oriented, analytical and trustworthy with confidential/sensitive information.  The ideal candidate will have a collaborative leadership style, be a team player, an exceptional listener, and an astute observer of organizational behavior with a keen desire to design and implement best-practices to drive organizational efficiency and output.  This individual will also have a sense of urgency and a strong desire to make a positive impact on Connecticut.

The position will report directly to the President & CEO. Compensation: commensurate with experience.
