On February 1, 2019, Governor Lamont announced a new construct to support an invigorated and aggressive economic development strategy in Connecticut. “We need to think holistically in terms of how we recruit, keep and grow companies here in the state of Connecticut. […] For too long, we’ve looked at economic growth and development in silos instead of with a comprehensive view that allows us to see the impact of our decisions on the long-term financial sustainability and success of our state, and therefore, our residents.”
AdvanceCT and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (“DECD”) are working in collaboration to drive economic development. AdvanceCT is responsible for driving recruitment, retention and expansion activities, in close coordination with the DECD.

This is a truly unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing, fast paced and entrepreneurial nonprofit with a civic mission. The Business Associate will be involved in nearly all facets of the organization’s operations. The Associate supports the research, business development, marketing and partnership teams, requiring superior organization and communication skills, an ability to multi-task, a team orientation and a startup mindset. AdvanceCT is a relatively flat organization, affording the Associate regular exposure to senior team members and high-impact, direct involvement in important strategic initiatives.
We are seeking individuals with proven analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills. A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2-3 years prior professional experience is required. A working knowledge of business and economic data sources and fluency with MS Office and visualization software is preferred. The ability to distill and synthesize information, summarize key insights, and communicate conclusions in verbal and written forms is essential. The Associate will be called upon to represent AdvanceCT at events, industry gatherings, conferences, etc. and must be comfortable networking in those settings.
