The AdvanceCT is a private, business-driven nonprofit organization in the midst of a transformation. In 2019, Governor Lamont identified AdvanceCT as a key strategic partner in the effort to reinvigorate economic development in the state of Connecticut. Working in in close collaboration with the Department of Economic and Community Development, AdvanceCT’s redefined mission is to lead and drive statewide business recruitment and retention activities. 

AdvanceCT is taking a highly strategic and aggressive approach to implement its strategy. AdvanceCT’s strategy is to engage, retain and recruit businesses through business development, thoughtful research and strategic marketing. AdvanceCT will continue to be highly collaborative in this effort, working with state and local government officials as well as other nonprofits and CT-based businesses.

Job Description

This is a truly unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing, fast-paced and entrepreneurial nonprofit organization with a civic mission. In addition, the role will provide an opportunity for the Analyst to develop an in-depth understanding of CT’s private and public sectors and provide ample networking opportunities in both arenas.

The Business Analyst will be involved in nearly all facets of AdvanceCT’s day to day operations. The Associate supports the research, business development, business engagement and partnership teams, requiring superior organization and communication skills, an ability to multi-task, a team orientation and an entrepreneurial mindset. AdvanceCT is a relatively flat organization, so the Associate will have regular exposure to senior team members and have direct involvement in AdvanceCT’s most important strategic initiatives. In short, this is a high-impact role.

We are seeking individuals with proven analytical capabilities and communication skills. A minimum of 2-3 years of prior professional experience is required, ideally working for a company such as (but not limited to) a financial services or consulting firm. Since one essential role of the Associate will be to conduct research and assemble/analyze data, a working knowledge of business, and economic data/information sources would be ideal. The ability to distill and synthesize information, summarize key insights and communicate conclusions in both written and verbal forms will be essential. The Associate may also be called on to represent AdvanceCT “in the field” at events, industry gatherings, conferences, etc. As such, he or she must have strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable networking in those settings.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, computational accuracy
  • Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word and Power Point), data visualizations a plus
  • A bachelor’s degree

Working Conditions

Full-time position with occasional attendance at evening or weekend meetings or presentations.
